What People Are Saying

It’s an OK dog park no grass so if you’re trying to keep your dog clean, forget that but then again a dog is a dog, right but at least there is a porta potty that you can use instead of having to hold your pee

Not a lot of grass in the dog area, and I don't know about all dogs, but my dogs don't really like all the wood chips and stuff. They smell funny

About Dog Park | Barandas Park

Nestled in Sacramento, Barandas Park offers a decent space for your pups to socialize, though you’ll want to manage expectations regarding cleanliness. While the dog area is primarily wood chips with minimal grass, the park does feature separate enclosures for small and large dogs, allowing for a safe play environment for different breeds. The absence of grass might not be ideal for every dog, but many still enjoy the chance to romp around freely.

Water is readily available, with several bowls and fountains scattered throughout, which is a welcome feature after an energetic play session. The park’s cleanliness receives praise, making it a nice place to let your pup expend some energy. However, some visitors have noted the peculiar smell of the wood chips, which can be a turn-off for more sensitive noses.

If you’re planning a visit, you’ll find ample parking nearby, and the hours are convenient for early risers and evening strolls alike. While it may not be the lushest dog park, the atmosphere is generally relaxed, and many dog owners appreciate the opportunity to watch their pets interact and have fun.
