What People Are Saying

Nice open area for the dog to run around
Let me start with the good. Compared with Mutt Run, there seems to be less mud and the inclusion of a disc golf course makes it more fun to spend time at if you aren't entertaining a canine companion
Beautiful area to exercise the pup and take a walk. Watch out for poison ivy along the trails in the summer. Aside from the boat ramp, we didn't find easy river access?

About OFF-LEASH DOG PARK AT RIVERFRONT PARK

Nestled within Riverfront Park in Lawrence, this off-leash dog area offers plenty of open space for your pup to stretch their legs and roam freely. While the park is a nature preserve, it lacks fencing, so it’s best suited for dogs with good recall. The lack of a designated off-leash section can make it challenging for some dogs, especially with the many enticing smells surrounding the area that can distract them during playtime.

There’s a nice trail nearby for a change of scenery and a bit of exercise for both dogs and their humans, but be cautious of poison ivy in the warmer months. The park is well-known for its beautiful surroundings, and there’s even a disc golf course that can add some fun for those accompanying their furry friends. However, bring your own water since there aren’t any fountains or water stations available.

While many appreciate the spaciousness, it’s worth noting that mosquitoes can be a nuisance for both dogs and their owners, making some visits less enjoyable. The facilities are basic, with just a porta potty on-site. For those willing to deal with the drawbacks, Riverfront Park provides a great opportunity to connect with nature and let your dog enjoy some freedom.
