What People Are Saying

A small but cute dog park that doesn’t look like it is used much
We used this dog park frequently and while it has been being maintained better lately it is not real big and like most downtown it has rocks for the entire surface
I love this location, it's very low key, clean, when I do see anyone here it's always been a pleasant experience!

About Gateway Dog Park

Gateway Dog Park in Minneapolis is a small yet inviting spot that serves the local downtown community. The park features a gravel surface that’s easy on paws, although some users have noted that the concrete water bowls often collect dirty rainwater and debris. With limited space, it’s a decent option for apartment dwellers looking to let their dogs burn off some energy, especially during quieter times when the park can feel almost empty.

While the park’s size might be a concern for larger dogs, it provides a comfortable, clean environment with plenty of seating for humans. It’s often frequented by friendly dogs and owners, creating a pleasant atmosphere for casual play. However, users have mentioned that maintenance is inconsistent, with some reports of owners not cleaning up after their pets, which can detract from the overall experience.

Conveniently located in the Elliot Park area, Gateway Dog Park is a solid choice if you’re in the neighborhood. Though there isn’t any shade, the benches available offer a place to rest while your pooch enjoys a good run. Just be sure to bring a water bottle, as the lack of a central water source means the existing bowls might not be suitable for drinking. Overall, it’s a great little park for a quick outing with your dog.
