What People Are Saying

very nice little park! it’s a relatively small dog run with a area for big and small dogs, each containing a small fountain that you can pump out into either a overhead spray or into a duvet that can be filled up a little bit for wading and washing off feet
Nice dog park. This is my third time coming
This dogpark was just okay. Since it is right in the middle of downtown, parking can be tricky

About Market Square Dog Run

Nestled in the heart of downtown Houston, Market Square Dog Run offers a compact yet functional space for pups to socialize. With designated areas for both large and small dogs, the park features convenient fountains that provide a refreshing splash during hot days. While the park is well-lit and maintains clean seating areas, the dirt floor can lead to a bit of a mess, especially when the water feature gets some use.

Parking around the park can be a challenge, often requiring a bit of maneuvering, which can be stressful for those with excitable pups. For new visitors, the accessible entrance on Milam Street serves as a welcoming option, especially for anyone concerned about navigating stairs. While the park does attract a mix of friendly dogs and owners, some visitors hope for better adherence to size restrictions to ensure a safer play environment.

Despite its small size, many locals appreciate the park for its convenience and its role as a much-needed off-leash area amid the urban backdrop. While some have pointed out that it can smell a bit and has its share of dirt, those living nearby often find Market Square Dog Run to be a useful spot for quick outings with their furry friends, especially with Barnaby’s Restaurant conveniently located across the street for a post-play bite.
